DHL helps customers achieve their own CO2 reduction goals
- DHL Global Forwarding upgrades its shipment management tool DHL Interactive with a state-of-the-art carbon reporting function
- IT solution offers convenient booking, tracking and instant reporting on shipments
DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight specialist within Deutsche Post DHL Group, has released a new carbon reporting feature on its web-based customer platform DHL Interactive (DHLi). With this new functionality, customers will be able to effectively calculate the CO2 footprint of their shipments, thus come one step closer to meeting their individual CO2 reduction goals. The reports are calculated based on the latest carbon-reporting guidelines on transportation and include CO2 emission data based on the valid European Norm (EN16258) as well as a recent, standard setting French Decree (No. 2011:1336).
"DHLi has been a great tool for us over the last years, as it has automated our export booking orders. It works as "Self Service" to book, track and report 24/7 and helped us become more efficient when handling air or ocean shipments. Having now CO2 emission data included in the reports makes it easier for us to get full transparency on our carbon emissions, helping us to improve our supply chain efficiency and meeting our environmental goals," said Patrick Ley, Strategic Purchasing Manager, Huntsman Pigments and Additives.
Key improvements include increased information transparency to improve ease of use. Customers will now receive aggregated reports including data about their shipments' carbon footprint in addition to comprehensive information on goods and their shipping status on up to one year of shipment history. The reports can be generated based on a predefined schedule, saved, and even shared with third parties. These can easily be invited by customers themselves via access control.

DHLi offers customers a range of services for handling their consignments. Users can book shipments at www.dhl.com/dhli and also request documents such as certificates of origin, consular invoices and letters of credit. Furthermore, customers can use booking templates, request instant house bill (HB) numbers, and can create a commercial invoice and packing list via the DHLi booking function.
Additionally, customers can use the track and trace module for real-time visibility of air and ocean shipments and request alerts for chosen shipment stages such as the "Point Of Delivery" (POD). As a web-based platform, DHL Interactive is globally available, requires no IT set-up and can be accessed via every internet-enabled device. The platform is available today in 14 languages and provided at no additional cost.
