More than 20,000 years of service at Deutsche Post DHL: This year, about 420 employees contributed to this impressive figure and have been honored by the company today. The world's leading mail and logistics service group is one of the few German companies which have such a large number of employees with a golden jubilee. Over 270 of them have been personally recognized by Deutsche Post DHL's CEO Frank Appel and Angela Titzrath, Board Member for Personnel.
"We are delighted that so many employees have remained with the company for such a long time. They have witnessed the change from the former "Bundespost" to the world's leading postal and logistics group and helped Deutsche Post DHL to become a globally successful company. We know that the success of our company is based on the know-how and commitment of our employees. Therefore we are particularly pleased to honor our jubilees today."
In Germany, Deutsche Post DHL employs more than 200,000 employees, among them are many with decades of service for the company. In order to allow older employees to actively participate in professional life until they reach the age of legal retirement, Deutsche Post DHL developed the so called "Generations Pact", a model for designing and facilitating age-based working solutions. With the help of the pact, Deutsche Post DHL will not only continue to benefit from the valuable knowledge and experience of older staff, but it also helps employees enter retirement healthy and sound.
Specifically, through the Generations Pact, the "working-time accounts" and a demography fund serve as a supplement to the partial retirement program. Working-time accounts give employees the opportunity to save up a credit balance during the active working phase and redeem it before they enter retirement. Contributions from the demography fund are used by the company to increase payments to employees during partial retirement. Money for the fund is supplied by an allowance from the 2012 wage rounds.
