Deutsche Post to Test Sunday Delivery
Pilot project with the German news magazine "Der Spiegel"Bonn, 05/09/2007, 11:30 AM CEST
Deutsche Post is planning to test a progressive expansion of its delivery services to seven days a week in selected large cities. As part of a pilot project, Deutsche Post mail carriers will begin to deliver the news magazine "Der Spiegel" to homes in Düsseldorf on Sunday, June 3, 2007, and to homes in Hamburg on Sunday, August 19, 2007.
"First of all, we are pleased to be able to offer an additional service to our customers on Sundays in cooperation with "Der Spiegel". The example shows that the trend at Deutsche Post is clearly aimed at more service and customer proximity rather than less", says Klaus Zumwinkel, Chairman of the Board of Management at Deutsche Post World Net.
Should the pilot projects in Düsseldorf and Hamburg turn out to be successful, an expansion of the offer will be tested in a next step. Business customers are already requesting additional offers for Sunday delivery, especially of up-to-date items and press products.
