Future prize laureate José Manuel Barroso visits DHL Innovation Center

The President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso toured the DHL Innovation Center in Troisdorf during his visit to Bonn to receive the 2007 Future Prize on Wednesday. Klaus Zumwinkel, Board Chairman of the world's leading logistics group Deutsche Post World Net, introduced future trends in the sector to President Barroso. The research center is unique in the logistics industry and has been set up with the aim to develop highly innovative and marketable products in collaboration with partners including IBM, Intel and SAP. Keith Ulrich, Head of Technology and Innovation Management of Deutsche Post World Net, guided the tour around the spectacular showroom of the ideas lab.
In the evening the EU Commission President traveled to the Bundestag building in Bonn where he was formally presented with the 2007 Future Prize which is awarded by the Initiative Forum Zukunft. It fell to Zumwinkel as last year's winner to deliver the laudation for Barroso. The Future Prize is awarded each year to prominent figures in public life in recognition of outstanding achievement in the fields of politics, business and society.
