Winfried Häser, Director of Environmental Policy and Strategy at Deutsche Post World Net, was recently awarded the 2007 B.A.U.M. Award in the large company category by the Bundesdeutscher Arbeitskreis für Umweltbewusstes Management e.V. (B.A.U.M./German Environmental Management Association). Ole von Beust, mayor of the City of Hamburg, presented the award together with Professor Maximilian Gege, B.A.U.M. Chairman, and Martin Oldeland, Member of the B.A.U.M. Managing Committee, on the occasion of the annual conference in Hamburg.
Häser is responsible for the strategic orientation, initialization, and coordination of environmental measures at Deutsche Post World Net. He also advocates environmental protection and sustainability outside the office. Among other things, he assists the Sustainability Leadership Forum organized by Lüneburg University and B.A.U.M. e.V., and belongs to the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) Environment Committee.
Since 1993, personalities have been honored with the B.A.U.M. Award who have performed great service with their outstanding commitment and exemplary initiative over many years to environmental protection and sustainable development, in the sense of a holistic approach. Climate protection has been at the center of Deutsche Post World Net's environmental strategy since 2003.
"As the leading worldwide logistics service provider, we believe we have an obligation to treat the natural environment and its resources responsibly. To be awarded the B.A.U.M. Prize spurs us on to continue to expand our GoGreen Initiative," Häser explained at the awards ceremony in Hamburg. Under the GOGREEN label, Deutsche Post World Net has been offering climate neutral products and services since 2005. The palette of offers extends today from climate neutral dispatch solutions for private customers to climate neutral internal express services for major customers.
This year contract logistics business customers will also be able to take advantage of climate friendly dispatch offers. This self-commitment to climate protection is also expressed in the establishment of a sustainable logistics network encompassing optimized routes and improved use of capacities as well as in the switch to a vehicle fleet with vehicles that use alternative fuels.
