Readers of Lloyd's Freight Transport Buyer Asia magazine have awarded three prizes to express and logistics company DHL at the 2006 Asia Logistics Awards. DHL was named Operator of the Year in the Express, Air Freight and Contract Logistics categories and is the only company to receive multiple awards this year. The company was also a finalist in the Sea Freight Forwarder, Project Forwarder and Ethical Responsibility categories. DHL is the runaway market leader in the express and logistics sector in the Asia Pacific region.
Criteria for the awards, which are highly regarded in Asia, include reliability, costs and level of customer service as well as the ability to be able to appreciate and understand the customer's business.
The awards follow a series of initiatives recently implemented by DHL in the region, including a US$110 million expansion of the Central Asia Hub, the launch of a strategic alliance with Malaysian air freight operator Transmile to expand current service offerings, US$3 million to build a logistics facility in Cengkareng, Indonesia, a US$1.58 million project to build a cargo hub facility at the Incheon International Logistics Center in Seoul as well as a state-of-the-art Asia Healthcare and Life Sciences Hub in Singapore.
