Deutsche Post World Net and eBay: "We want to help"
- Joint contribution campaign for the tsunami victims in Asia
- Deutsche Post World Net contributes one million euros
With the motto "We want to help - contribution campaign for flood victims in Southeast Asia", Deutsche Post World Net and eBay are calling for donations throughout Germany. Additionally, Deutsche Post World Net has announced a donation of one million euros.
Specific to the joint campaign with eBay: Starting today, anyone wanting to offer their support in other ways too can pack merchandise that is new or as good as new in parcel format, bringing it to a Deutsche Post retail outlet. From there, the parcel will be transported at no charge to a collection center where the goods are photographed for auction on eBay with the corresponding description.
Important for all those ready to donate: To insure a smooth transport of the merchandise donated (minimum value: 25 euros, no food or easily perishable goods or supplies for direct aid), it must be packed as a standard postal item. Sufficient as address on the parcel or small packet form is the inscription: "We want to help", 38999 Braunschweig.
All proceeds of the auction will go to a Postbank donation account and be made available to the aid organization "Ein Herz für Kinder" helping the victims of the flood in Southeast Asia. Deutsche Post is taking on the costs of transport to the collection center and will share the costs with eBay for preparing the merchandise for auction (photographs, descriptions). eBay is foregoing the usual auction fees.
The campaign will run until January 17 in Deutsche Post retail outlets. eBay users can find out about it at www.ebay.de/wir_wollen_helfen.
Deutsche Post World Net and eBay have been providing quick und non-bureaucratic aid from the start.
For a week now, eBay has made considerable free advertising space available to UNICEF on the eBay pages. A donation collection campaign is also underway in the company: Each donation from eBay employees is doubled by the company.
Deutsche Post World Net has been helping with DHL in the affected countries since the outbreak of the catastrophe. To date, aid actions valued at more than 350,000 euros have been undertaken. This includes support to the governments and aid organizations in Asia, e.g. through free use of aircraft and vehicles for transport and distribution of aid supplies. Up to now, more than 126 tons of aid supplies have been delivered, with 41 DHL local offices involved in the coordination of measures.
