Rhodia chooses DHL as its worldwide logistics partner
- Logistics services worth EUR 60 million
- Sustainable growth strategy the deciding factor
Rhodia, a global special chemicals group, has chosen DHL to be its worldwide logistics provider. The agreement's term is three to five years and covers logistics services worth EUR 60 million. Under this outsourcing agreement, DHL will handle the company's transport and logistics business and all third-party logistics. This will entail the processing of all intercontinental logistics flows to and from Europe, North America, Latin America and, in the future, Asia (responsible: DHL Danzas Air & Ocean) plus road transports (responsible: DHL Freight).
An important factor in the contract award was DHL's worldwide transport network and international presence plus its know-how in the chemical industry and multimodal transport. At least just as important however was DHL's demonstration of a credible, sustainable growth strategy that takes safety and environmental aspects into consideration.
Confirming this aspect, Jacque Kheliff, Rhodia's Vice-President for Sustainable Development, noted, "The fact that both our companies promote sustainable development and share the same social, economic and environmental values was the crucial factor in the group's decision." Deutsche Post World Net was just designated the best German company in the area of environmental responsibility by a panel of experts in the current issue of a leading German business magazine.DHL has provided logistics services for Rhodia for many years.
