New Professorships Sponsored at the University of Kassel
Deutsche Post strengthens scientific basis for dialog marketingKassel/Bonn, 04/12/2005, 11:30 AM CEST
The new marketing chairs will be taking up their work as part of a "Dialog Marketing Competence Center" (DMCC) at the University of Kassel
in the 2005 summer semester. The professorships were sponsored by the Siegfried Vögele Institute (SVI), a Deutsche Post subsidiary. The SVI, with headquarters in Königstein/Taunus, coordinates the scientific dialog marketing network for the MAIL Corporate Division. The institute focuses on practically oriented knowledge transfer, basic research, consulting and continuing education for new, market-oriented strategies and tools in the field of dialog marketing.
The SVI-sponsored professorships entitled "Dialog Marketing," "Communications and Media Management" as well as "International Direct Marketing" will be made available to the University of Kassel for the establishment and development of this innovative and practically oriented research field for an initial period of five years. They include annual sponsorship assistance of approximately EUR 500,000. Added to this is one-time provisioning of additional subsidies for the facilities and equipment needed for the professorships.
Prof. Dr. Andreas Mann (Chair for Dialog Marketing), Prof. Dr. Dieter Dahlhoff (Chair for Communications and Media Management) and Prof. Dr. Florian von Wangenheim (Chair for International Direct Marketing) were offered the newly created professorships.
"We are especially pleased to see the SVI-sponsored professorships at the University of Kassel," said university president Prof. Dr. Rolf-Dieter Postlep in addressing his thanks to the sponsor and supporting organization. Kassel offers an excellent basis for interdisciplinary integration of the new SVI professorships as a young marketing research and development field, i.e. in regard to data protection, information processing, business psychology issues as well as sociological and business administration questions. "We are well positioned to form an interdisciplinary center of excellence which also offers the potential for long-term cooperation," continued Postlep. This likewise applies to possible scientific continuing education offers together with the private Kassel International Management School which belongs to the university.
"The University of Kassel responded to our sponsorship offer in record time and fulfilled the conditions for its implementation," said Prof. Dr. Jürgen Hesse, Director of SVI in praise of the university. This public-private partnership is now expected to produce strong developmental impulses in the innovative field of dialog marketing. "Dialog marketing is a young, market-oriented service in demand the world over and we expect the sponsored professorships to provide important image-building impulses here," underscored Hesse.
Jürgen Gerdes, a Member of the MAIL Divisional Board at Deutsche Post Group Headquarters believes that a scientific basis is essential for the further development of marketing tools and strategies. "The sponsoring of these chairs is an investment in the future of Deutsche Post as a driver of dialog marketing. As a full-range provider of system solutions in this field, our customers expect us to provide sector-related, need-based offers for dialog with their own customers. We can only maintain our successful position in the future when we incorporate the latest scientific findings in the development of our offers," said Gerdes.
