Successor Chris Fahy heads future DHL Global Forwarding business
Effective January 1, 2006, Renato Chiavi (65) will cede his role as head of DHL Danzas Air & Ocean to Chris Fahy (49). Mr. Fahy, until now the regional director for Europe, will now lead the expanded DHL Global Forwarding department following the Exel acquisition.
Chiavi will continue to make himself available to the Group. Among other things, he will continue to actively support the integration of Exel and promote the expansion of forwarding business and projects logistics.
Renato Chiavi, who has headed DHL Danzas Air & Ocean since 1995, can look back on nearly 50 years of success in the freight business. Under his leadership, Deutsche Post World Net's air and ocean freight businesses grew to become number one and number two worldwide in their respective markets.
This period also witnessed, among other things, the highly successful integration of the American air freight company Air Express International as well as the comprehensive expansion of business in the growth markets of Asia, Central America and Latin America.
DHL Global Forwarding is the market leader in air and ocean freight and a project logistics services provider operating worldwide. A range of value-added services rounds off the product and service portfolio. Last year the business division posted a double-digit growth rate in both air freight tonnage (+24%) and ocean freight volume (+19%) and generated nearly EUR 5 billion in revenues.
