DHL Fulfillment handles entire logistics chain for cellular mail order company eteleonBonn, 07/26/2005, 11:30 AM CEST
DHL Fulfilment has taken over the entire logistics operations for eteleon GmbH, one of the leading mail order companies in cellular products. It will process approximately 110,000 items with cell phones and their accompanying contracts per year via its "Fulfilment Plus" logistics center in Staufenberg, which is oriented to high-tech customers.
The services provided to eteleon will cover the entire supply chain, from the acceptance of goods to inventory management to delivery to the end customer. Cell phones with SIM cards are packaged together with personalized documents at a specialized warehouse for order picking and dispatch preparation. Thanks to the modern infrastructure and the central location of the Staufenberg Logistics center, DHL Fulfilment can offer especially late cut-off times. Customers can order cellular devices online for next-day delivery as standard parcels until 8 p.m. and as express parcels until 10 p.m.
Cell phones with contracts make up about 90% of all orders from eteleon. Direct contact with the customers is necessary in these cases, so that the buyers' identity can be verified. DHL offers an Ident-Versand service, in which the recipient's identity is confirmed. Per eteleon's regulations, the cell phone is handed over to the recipient only after a 100% identity match has been established. As soon as the recipient has signed the original contract documents, the delivery information is submitted in advance to eteleon electronically. Even though the physical contract documents have not yet been received, eteleon immediately activates the cell phone. In addition to this, the customer can at any hour call up the current status of their shipment online and automatically receive an SMS text message or e-mail update.
