Free-parcel Friday attracts two million customersBonn, 03/04/2005, 10:30 AM CET
The final figures are now in and they show that around two million parcels were sent free of charge on DHL's free-parcel Friday. Once all the data had been fully evaluated, the provisional figure of 1.3 million parcels was increased by a further 700,000. This meant a total volume that was almost three times the amount posted on the busiest day before Christmas, December 21, 2004. Deutsche Post has pronounced the campaign a total success. And its customers made use of this unique free gift right up until the last minute, with the last parcel being placed in a Packstation just before midnight on Friday.
Dr. Klaus Zumwinkel, Chairman of the Board of Management of Deutsche Post World Net, was delighted at the outcome: "This campaign was as unusual as it was customer-friendly and its success once again demonstrates our capabilities and the professional commitment of our employees."
