DHL, the express and logistics specialist of Deutsche Post World Net, is further expanding its market position in the United States. To this end, the corporation now offers a daily direct overnight express delivery service between Shanghai and North America. "The flights between China and the U.S.A. make our services even more appealing for American customers," says John Mullen, member of the Group Management Board responsible for the U.S. business. "Our customers between San Francisco and New York can now profit from the later pickup and earlier delivery times for express services between these two vital markets."
The overnight express delivery service leads from Shanghai to Anchorage and from there to the DHL hubs in Los Angeles und Cincinnati. After completion of the DHL distribution center in Wilmington, Ohio, in fall of this year, the route will also lead there. Shanghai is directly linked with the central DHL hub for Asia in Hong Kong through a direct flight. This new offer is DHL's response to the enormous surge in demand for express services on the Chinese market, which is one of the highest growth markets in the global DHL network with growth of 50 to 60 percent in the past year.
Along with Shanghai, Beijing will also undergo tighter integration into the DHL network. In the future there will be overnight express delivery service from Hong Kong to the Chinese capital four times a week.
