"We have achieved the most important aim of the negotiations: competitive working and pay conditions in line with the sector standard," emphasized Scheurle. Salaries are in accordance with the level in the North Rhine-Westphalia freight forwarding and logistics sector. The working week comprises 39 hours. At the same time, an amended model is being introduced for flexitime under the collective wage agreements. "We have also ensured that the transfer of employees who are being taken over from KarstadtQuelle/Neckermann will not entail any financial losses," explained Scheurle. The collective wage agreements will enter into force on January 1, 2006 and will be valid until 2008. "Through the agreements, we have established the necessary planning reliability for both the company and employees for the next few years," added Scheurle.
If you recall, on April 1, 2005 and July 1, 2005, DHL Solutions, a subsidiary of Deutsche Post World Net, took over the distribution logistics of Karstadt Warenhaus AG and the large and bulky goods unit of mail order companies Quelle and Neckermann, including the approx. 3600 employees. This included the goods distribution center in Unna/Holzwickede, the jewelry warehouse in Essen, the industry centers in Essen-Vogelheim and Brieselang (Brandenburg) and the regional logistics centers in Hamburg, Berlin, Kirchheim b. München, Düsseldorf and Karlsruhe.
