The 2005 Mailing Competition Has Begun
Deutsche Post once again seeks out the most creative dialog marketing ideasBonn, 01/20/2005, 10:30 AM CET
As the sponsor of the "Mailing Competition 2005", Deutsche Post will be doling out the awards to those German advertising agencies who demonstrate exceptionally creative work in the area of dialog marketing. Agencies have until March 4th to submit their best mailings from their 2004 portfolios and may enter their work in four categories: "Standard Format", "Open Format", "Partially Addressed Mailings" and "Self-advertising".
The "Standard format" category includes all addressed and personalized mailshots no more than 235 x 125 mm in size, up to 10 mm thick and weighing no more than 50 g. If the mailing happens to be a tad bigger, it automatically falls into the "Open Format" category. Postwurf Spezial items are the focus of the "Partially addressed mailings" group. The agencies' own "Self-advertising" falls into its own same-name category.
The Mailing Competition was first started in 1997 and has been growing consistently ever since its inception. More than 600 advertising agencies took part in the competition in 2004. Once again agencies can take their chances and submit their best of 2004, but only one per category. Entries must first pass through the regional juries, twelve in all, before they make it to the national round.
Only three per category will make it this far. The final elimination round, presided over by a renowned and expert jury, will once again take place at the Siegfried Vögele Institute in Königstein/Taunus near Frankfurt. The criteria for evaluating entries are overall design, creative use of graphics and text, the proposition, customized approach and the use of free gifts.
The winners of the regional elimination rounds receive the prized "Deutsche Post Mailing Partner' seal. The final round has attractive cash prizes for the best of the best. The first-place winners in each category will receive EUR 3,000; second place receives EUR 2,000 and third place EUR 1,000. The award ceremony will be held during the closing event on June 17, 2005 in Hamburg.
