Deutsche Post World Net is eBay's preferred logistics partner
Numerous features make online auctions even easier and more convenientBonn/Berlin, 05/13/2004, 11:30 AM CEST
Deutsche Post World Net is set to make selling on eBay even simpler and more convenient for private and business customers alike. Both companies have now concluded a cooperation agreement that makes Deutsche Post World Net eBay's preferred provider of dispatch and logistics services. The already standing partnership between the two companies will be further expanded.
The cooperation between Deutsche Post World Net and eBay offers both private and commercial customers an optimized logistics product that integrates dispatch services as an additional feature in the online marketplace.
The centerpiece of the cooperation will be a series of online tools that allow eBay's private and commercial customers quick and easy access to information and services relating to the dispatch of their goods. Starting in summer 2004, Deutsche Post World Net will gradually begin offering services that make essentially every aspect of the eBay online marketplace sales process even more convenient and transparent. An online product advisor, for example, enables the seller to quickly identify the best dispatch method for the particular product and determine the most affordable dispatch option using the shipping cost calculator. For the buyer, the transport costs for the purchased goods are made transparent; for the seller, selecting the right shipping method is simplified. What's more, sellers shall in future be able to print out stamps and address labels themselves immediately after the end of the auction so that the package is ready to go.
DHL's all-around, trouble-free package gives eBay's so-called "Topsellers" or "Powersellers" the option of handing over their entire sales process - from procurement and storage to sales and dispatch - to Deutsche Post World Net.
Dr. Peter E. Kruse, responsible Board member, is thoroughly convinced, "The cooperation between eBay and Deutsche Post World Net is a win-win situation for both parties. Simplified auction and dispatch processes will make it even easier for eBay members to conduct auctions in the online marketplace. The number of products sold by way of eBay and shipped by Deutsche Post World Net in Germany is over ten times what it was some four years ago. According to our estimates the amount for 2003 was some 50 million letters and over 30 million packages."
"We want to make trading on the online marketplace as easy, as secure and as transparent as possible. The cooperation lets us offer our users even higher service quality when it comes to selling their goods; this makes eBay even more attractive," says Philipp Justus, Managing Direct of eBay GmbH. "We are pleased to have found such a high-performing and innovative partner and we?re sure that it means an increase in the quality of service for our users."
The cooperation between the two companies will be expanded not only "online" but "offline" as well. Both companies plan to intensify their joint efforts co-hosting events and undertaking joint marketing campaigns. Deutsche Post World Net's participation in the eBay Universities, which show eBay sellers and buyers some of the more advanced features of eBay, is already a huge success. There will be more joint actions to come.
