PC franking now attractive for private customers too
Stampit Home offers the most affordable access for low mail volumesBonn, 05/05/2004
PC franking via the Internet is becoming more and more popular. STAMPIT, Deutsche Post's PC franking software, is currently installed on over 50,000 PCs. And Deutsche Post is now expanding the offer. Beginning May 10, an additional version called STAMPIT HOME will be on the market for those interested in franking with the "Internet stamp". The new version is particularly suited to private users and businesses with low mail volumes. The current business version will also make a new appearance with enhancements such as network installation, online postage refunds and the inclusion of a company logo or advertising slogan within the franking.
STAMPIT HOME includes the basic PC-franking functionalities: online purchase of postage and online franking. The integrated franking assistant and the postcode search facilitate dispatch. Documents from either Microsoft Word or StarOffice can be franked directly with the software. And STAMPIT HOME also allows for online interfacing with eBay for the convenient transmission of buyer addresses.
STAMPIT is Europe's pioneer in online PC franking. Items are franked using a matrix code in combination with the recipient's address onto envelopes, labels and in the case of window envelopes, directly onto the document itself. Along with the STAMPIT software, all the user needs is a standard Windows-based PC with Internet access and an inkjet or laser printer. You can replenish your personal postage account over the Internet; payments are made by direct debit.
The STAMPIT HOME software costs EUR 9.50. The new version - including a postage credit of EUR 5.00 - can be obtained for EUR 14.50 in all Postbank centers, in many of the larger retail outlets and online at the Deutsche Post Internet outlet (www.deutschepost.de/efiliale).
