Packstation: "Most innovative postal product"Bonn, 05/26/2004
At this year's World Mail Awards in Berlin, Deutsche Post World Net came first in the category Innovation: its parcel collection system, PACKSTATION, is now the "most innovative postal product worldwide".
PACKSTATION is Deutsche Post World Net's terminal-based parcel collection system, via which registered customers can collect and send parcels, small packets and merchandise around the clock. Cash-on-delivery items can be paid for directly at the PACKSTATION using a debit card.
The World Mail Awards are the postal industry's Oscars and are presented annually in ten categories. The awards are presented to postal companies and other logistics service providers for their outstanding performance, developments, products and services.
With PACKSTATION, Deutsche Post World Net managed to win against other numerous top-class international postal and logistics companies.
Decisive for the jury were the convincing product idea and PACKSTATION's service portfolio, as well as the systematic product development process with the Austrian company, Keba AG.
After trials in Dortmund, Mainz and Frankfurt lasting three years 650 PACKSTATIONs will be set up in Cologne, Darmstadt, Wiesbaden, Hanover, Bremen, Augsburg, Munich, Hamburg, Potsdam and Berlin by the end of 2004.
