Nestlé Germany relies on a strong partner
DHL Express takes on domestic parcel distribution for the food groupBonn, 07/07/2004, 11:30 AM CEST
DHL Express and Nestlé Deutschland AG have expanded their partnership with a framework agreement for domestic parcel distribution. Nestlé's annual shipment volume comes to around 500,000 parcels and some 6,000 express items.
"We needed a strong partner for our domestic dispatch", says Klaus Peter Brickwedde, Head of Supply ChainManagement at Nestlé Germany. "Aside from good quality, reliability and an attractive cost to performance ratio, the added value produced for us by DHL was of utmost importance to us in our selection", is Brickwedde's explanation of what Nestlé requires from its logistics service provider. Not only does DHL pick up the shipments from Nestlé and its subsidiaries - Nestlé's third-party service providers are also incorporated into the framework agreement, sending their goods via DHL. "It is ideal for us", says Brickwedde, "to obtain all services from a single source, saves us and our partners huge administrative expense".
"As of now, we pick up the parcels from 22 Nestlé and Nestlé partner locations", explains Heike Kaufmann, Account Manager at DHL Express. The integration of more locations into this network is already on the drawing board. Customer pick-up is kept as uncomplicated as possible - for one, through special dispatch rooms at post offices enabling pick-up outside of office hours. The framework agreement has made handling of parcel shipments simpler, quicker and more secure for all concerned.
The Nestlé group counts as one of Europe's leading food producers, with around 14,500 employees working at 27 locations in Germany. Last year, Nestlé Deutschland AG, headquartered in Frankfurt/Main, achieved revenue of around EUR 3.4 billion.
