Logistics know-how for purchasing and procurement

This year is the first time DHL is supporting the "Purchasing and Logistics" symposium held by the Bundesverband Materialwirtschaft, Einkauf und Logistik (BME) in the role of official partner. The event is being held from November 14 to 17, 2004, in Berlin. "This event is an excellent platform to promote the exchange of experiences and joint development of innovative solutions in the field of logistics," said Hansjörg Votteler, Director Industry Management DHL Express, in reference to the increased commitment.
DHL regards itself as a strategic partner helping its customers to achieve real competitive advantages through jointly developed logistics-related innovations. On the part of the logistics company, the necessary basis for successful cooperation is formed by proven industry expertise in the customer's processes and target market, paired with an IT and transport network that spans the globe. DHL meets these demands with consistent industry orientation and proven logistics competence-and that in the field of procurement as well. "Promising procurement processes and pioneering procurement concepts are based primarily on holistic logistics solutions," said Votteler. On November 15, Dr. Frank Appel, Board Member Deutsche Post World Net, explained to the plenary assembly the role the logistics industry plays as a strategic partner to purchasing departments Markus Leutner, head of the China Competence Centers at DHL Express, will give a presentation on logistics infrastructure and opportunities in China. The growth market China is also the central theme of the DHL trade fair stand.
