DHL Solutions has been commissioned to handle logistic support for the Eastern European distribution operation of Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. The three-year contract with one of the world's leading suppliers of consumer electronics encompasses procurement, warehousing, shipping and returns management for the entire product range. The contract is effective immediately.
DHL Solutions, the division responsible for contract logistics at Deutsche Post World Net, will be offering a complete package of supply-chain services for the Samsung site in Slovakia. The Eastern European distribution center in Galanta is already the seventh Samsung location to be supported by DHL. Flat screens and other consumer electronics equipment for the markets in Western and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa are currently manufactured there. DHL has already been handling Samsung's pan-European full-truck-load transports for one and a half years now. These transport management services will be further expanded through the new contract with Samsung.
"The new contract is a confirmation for the added value generated through our role as Samsung's Lead Logistics Provider in Europe," underscored Bernd H. Flickinger, COO at DHL Solutions. DHL Solutions has been operating distribution centers for Samsung in Sweden (Jönköping), Italy (Milan), the Netherlands (Tilburg) and on the Iberian Peninsula (Madrid) as well as in France (Paris) for several years now. In light of its international customers' needs, DHL Solutions will concentrate additional logistics centers at strategic locations in the future as well.
