Deutsche Post makes it possible: Send fragrant letters and help at the same time
New campaign for special Christmas letters starts in DecemberBonn, 12/01/2004, 10:30 AM CET
Following its successful campaign to encourage letter writing last summer, Deutsche Post is now promoting the traditional letter during the holiday season with its the Fest of the Letter campaign. Six different scented stickers for private Christmas mail have been created to underscore the special character of this form of communication - a seductively fragrant message that neither e-mail nor SMS can offer.
The scented stickers will be available free of charge at all Deutsche Post retail outlets starting in December. Used on personal letters or greeting cards, these stickers make for greetings with an "air" that matches the season. This appealing idea is being flanked by placards, a TV commercial, a mailing and "Postwurf" unaddressed mail that will deliver a card with a set of stickers to more than 20 million households in order to make the upcoming holiday season a true "fest of the letter". A parallel promotional campaign is being conducted in 21 cities to support the campaign. In this case, interested customers can have their picture taken against a Christmas backdrop and then send the photo as their customized holiday greetings. And whoever wants to can also have their photo displayed on the Internet page www.briefeschreiben.de.
The mailing and the Fest of the Letter cards at Deutsche Post retail outlets offer not only the scented stickers but also an opportunity to help children in need. Deutsche Post will contribute one euro to the Ein Herz für Kinder (A Heart for Children) aid organization sponsored by the BILD-Zeitung newspaper for each letter or card the organization receives. Germany's ZDF television network will broadcast the big Ein Herz für Kinder gala with Thomas Gottschalk as moderator at 8:15 p.m. on December 18. Entries should be sent to: "Ein Herz für Kinder", Aktion "Schreiben hilft", 20723 Hamburg, Germany.
