First prize for Packstation at the Multimedia AwardsBonn, 07/01/2004, 11:30 AM CEST
DHL's PACKSTATION won first prize at the German Multimedia Awards for the best interactive solution in the category of kiosk systems.
PACKSTATION is Deutsche Post World Net's machine-based parcel retrieval system, which enables registered customers to retrieve and send parcels, small packets and merchandise items around the clock. Customers can make direct cashless payment at a PACKSTATION for COD items with the EC card.
The German Multimedia Award is Germany's most important online award and is presented annually by the German Multimedia Congress (DMMK), the German Multimedia Association (dmmv) and the Communications Association.
The award is presented for outstanding achievements in the fields of multimedia and interactive solutions. PACKSTATION was chosen by a prestigious jury from a record 423 entries. One of the main factors that convinced them was PACKSTATION's demonstrable economic success, as well as the high level of customer acceptance and the increase in order behavior.
This success automatically qualifies PACKSTATION to take part in the World Summit Award 2005, where prizes are awarded for the world's best interactive and digital solutions.
It is already the second major award for PACKSTATION in 2004, after being named the most innovative postal product worldwide at the World Mail Awards. Both these awards, and the very high customer acceptance - over 85,000 registered users - are the result of DHL's innovative delivery strategy.
In June, following three years of pilot operations in Dortmund, Mainz and Frankfurt, PACKSTATION was also made available to all Deutsche Post customers in Cologne. By the end of 2004, the cities of Hanover, Bremen, Darmstadt, Wiesbaden, Munich, Augsburg, Hamburg, Berlin and Potsdam will be added to the PACKSTATION network.
