DHL distinguished as best express service provider in Asia

For the 18th time in succession, DHL, the global leader for express and logistics services, has been voted the best express service provider in Asia. At the presentation of the renowned "Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards" 2004 (AFSCA) in Shanghai, DHL also came out on top in the road transport, logistics and air freight categories: As the "Best Express Operator", "Best Road Haulier Asia", "Best Logistics Service Provider Air Freight" and "Best All Cargo Airline", DHL was awarded a total of four of the seven coveted prizes.
The AFSCAs are said to be the most important awards in the Asian logistics industry. DHL has now won the award for Best Express Operator, which has been issued since 1987, for the 18th time and is the only logistics company to do so in continuous succession.
By the end of 2008, Deutsche Post World Net will invest US$ 1.1 bn in the Asia-Pacific region in order to take advantage of the growth opportunities in the world's fastest growing market. Through the expansion of capacities in the air freight network, DHL currently connects 24 destinations in 15 Asian countries every day using 19 of its own aircraft ? in addition to the 800 or so commercial flight connections through partner airlines. In addition, over 1,000 offices and branches, more than 5,000 vehicles and almost 500,000 square meters of warehouse floor space in 41 countries and areas of the region demonstrate the unparalleled nature of the ground infrastructure as well.
DHL recently founded the "Competence Center China" in Düsseldorf especially for its customers in Germany. In particular, SME customers that want to extend their business relationships with China can obtain information about the economy, logistics and trade with China from the Center.
