On Friday, the first-year pupils of the Adam-Stegerwald elementary school in Düsseldorf and their teacher Yvonne Barein took delivery of the 100,000th "Post + School" teaching pack. With this campaign, Deutsche Post has been active in German schools for several years. The contents are aimed at different age-groups, from kindergarten, through the elementary school pack for years 1-4, to advice on job applications for years 9-12 and a special pack for vocational schools.
These free-of-charge teaching packs on the subject of "Post and Mail" contain materials and worksheets for pupils. A separate teacher's pack provides ideas, tips and instructions on the best use of the material in the classroom.
The centerpiece of the elementary school pack is an illustrated story: Anna and Peter, the two main players, tell the children how and why you write letters and send mail. For the other classes, the packs contain various booklets for individual subjects. For example, the teaching pack for years 5 to 8 includes booklets on "Writing Letters" and "Pen Friendships" for German, "Creative Letters and Cards" for Art, and "Pen Pals" for English. Prospective school-leavers can use "Post + School" to practice written job applications.
In response to the great demand from teachers, the packs are being constantly expanded. A booklet on "Advertising and direct mail" is about to appear as an addition to the packfor vocational schools.
