Relocation addresses from Germany and Austria

German companies will have easier access to Austrian relocation addresses in future; in return Austrian companies will have access to Deutsche Post's relocation database. This has been made possible by a collaboration between Deutsche Post Adress GmbH (Gütersloh) and Postadress Austria GmbH (Vienna). As subsidiaries of postal service providers, both companies receive information from the redirection orders placed by their customers unless the latter have stated specifically that their details are not to be passed on to third parties.
With this collaboration, the partners have responded to companies' desire for cross-border direct marketing in the German-speaking region. The relocation databases foster customer retention - the latest address data can be matched against old addresses. The German relocation database contains address data from around 6.5 million redirection orders submitted each year and is therefore the largest German database for relocation information. It contains both company addresses and the addresses of nearly all private persons who have changed their address. The Austrian database contains around 300,000 addresses per year.
Here business customers can update individual addresses on the Internet. Larger data volumes are transmitted to Deutsche Post Adress by e-mail. Large companies can install the relocation database on their IT system in encrypted form. Deutsche Post Adress sells the relocation database together with over 30 sales partners. This includes all major German direct marketing service providers.
