Deutsche Post World Net: logistics from a single source for Stanley Works
Range of integrated services paves the way for intensified partnershipBonn, 04/01/2003, 11:30 AM CEST
Deutsche Post World Net and Stanley Works are to intensify their co-operation. From April 2003 onwards, the global manufacturer of hardware and tools will be availing of additional logistics services provided by Deutsche Post World Net. The main reason for expanding the partnership in Europe is to pool all of Deutsche Post World Net's express and logistics activities under the DHL brand. "As a global company, Stanley Works has recognised the benefits of our strategy" Corporate Key Account Manager Frans Zwetsloot from DHL Express Europe said, commenting on the intensified co-operation. It will give Stanley Works easier access to services along the complete logistics chain, simplify technical processes and provide for more efficient communication.
So far, Stanley Works' European shipment business has focused on Danzas and Deutsche Post Euro Express. Deutsche Post World Net's two subsidiaries conveyed less-than-carload-shipments, pallet shipments and parcels worth around EUR eight million to Stanley Works' customers last year. In future, the tool manufacturer will avail of all logistics services in a one-stop shop, namely from DHL Express Europe. The large number of country-specific individual agreements currently in place are to be replaced by one single, pan-European agreement integrating all agreements on products, prices and service features.
Stanley Works will benefit from the integration achievements of its logistics service provider in more ways than one. Several different contacts will be replaced by one central contact who will be responsible for co-ordinating customer management. Harmonised product designations will enhance the transparency of the range of services provided whereas standardised labels will simplify handling and above all electronic tracking & tracing. Instead of billing for all services in 50 individual monthly invoices, one single customised bill will be issued from now on. By opting for the one-stop shopping solution, Stanley Works will derive significant benefits from Deutsche Post World Net's integration strategy and the amalgamation of its networks. The reduction in red-tape, simplification of communications and increase in efficiency will lead to cost savings on both sides. "Many processes will become simpler and therefore more profitable for both partners" Henk Vyncke, Logistics Director Europe, and Project Manager Warehouse & Logistics Filip Degroote from Stanley Works said.
