'IZA Prize in Labor Economics' for U. S. economist Orley Ashenfelter

The Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA), promoted by Deutsche Post Foundation, awarded this year's 'IZA Prize in Labor Economics' to the economist Orley Ashenfelter. With EUR50,000 the 'IZA Prize' is internationally amongst the most highly endowed scientific prizes.
The prize winner Orley Ashenfelter works at the American Princeton University and developed groundbreaking methods for practical research of labour economics models. The IZA Prize Committee, which includes three Nobel Prize winners, sees Orley Ashenfelter as one of today's most important labour market researchers.
Dr Klaus Zumwinkel, Chairman of Deutsche Post World Net and President of the IZA, will present the 'IZA Prize in Labor Economics' on the occasion of the official award ceremony in Berlin on 22 September 2003.
