Innovative IT solutions for all manner of mail and logistics
Deutsche Post World Net at CeBIT 2003Bonn, 02/28/2003, 10:30 AM CET
The increasing digitization of processes and products is one of the dominant trends, not only in logistics but in postal services as well. Deutsche Post World Net, the international logistics group, along with several subsidiaries once again demonstrate its competence in the field of industry-specific IT solutions at a joint booth at this year's CeBIT.
Deutsche Post ITSolutions, just recently founded last year, presents Carbon# a framework based on the .Net technology for the efficient development and integration of complex application systems. Whoever wants to make his business processes flexible and to respond to constantly changing market demands with optimal solutions requires an IT application with which quick changes to processes can be implemented. This allows a very complex retail system, such as Deutsche Post's retail outlet system, to be migrated to .NET technology in stages. By creating this solution, Deutsche Post ITSolutions offers everything from a single source: conceptual design, implementation and introduction.
An additional innovative solution presented by DP ITSolutions is the development of a mobile orders management system, which is especially suitable for companies with many field sales employees. The specifications for this solution stake out the quality parameters: Information must be managed centrally and made available to employees, no matter where their work location - a technological balancing act for communication.
In addition, planning options must remain flexible and at the same time the security of a seamless work flow must be ensured.
Interested visitors will also be able to get information about Deutsche Post's new IT-supported vehicle fleet management system: A complex IT application, which not only allows for controlling the fleet, but also for centralised analyses covering the entire dataset. Management of the development processes, from conceptual design on up to implementation of the solution for the largest civilian fleet operator in Germany with around 60,000 vehicles, was also the responsibility of Deutsche Post ITSolutions.
With Stampit Deutsche Post was the first European postal company to begin PC franking (www.StampIt.de). The software enables customers to purchase postage comfortably and easily over the Internet and also to frank items. In the meantime, StampIt has been installed on more than 40,000 PCs in Germany. The current version 1.3 includes the results of a lot of practical experience, such as mail merge using StampIt for example, as well as the integration of address books. Anyone interested in the software can obtain detailed information from the Deutsche Post experts at CeBIT. After the huge success of PC franking in Germany, other European postal companies, such as the Swiss Postal Service, are interested in the solution.
Mailingfactory (www.Mailingfactory.de) offers small and medium-sized companies, freelancers, as well as independent units in larger companies an ideal instrument for quickly and efficiently processing mail shots over the Internet. Mailingfactory not only offers economical standard solutions, but also user-specific solutions, e.g. for a uniform corporate appearance in direct marketing campaigns by geographically independent sales units. The user can select between letter, postcard and email.
Industry-specific solutions are also the business of Deutsche Post Com (www.dpcom.de). The company offers services for energy providers, with which the consumption data reported by the end customers on meter cards is recorded and processed and made available electronically to the utility companies. Electronic communication channels via SMS, the Internet and fax for confirmation of meter readings will be presented for the first time at CeBIT.
Additional topics at Deutsche Post's booth will include offering advice to interested customers with regard to mass mailings via Infopost and the certification of the machine readability of letter items. Anyone interested in IT jobs and corresponding development possibilities at Deutsche Post World Net can find their contact in Hall 9 at the "Jobs & Career" market.
