Deutsche Post's eOutlet: rising customer demandBonn, 02/28/2003, 10:30 AM CET
Deutsche Post's eOutlet went online in November 2001. After only a year, the number of customers has increased tenfold. Meanwhile, a first annual valuation indicates 130,000 visitors per month. The products and services that are the most popular with online postal customers are stamps, redirection orders, ePaket (giving instructions for a parcel pick-up online) and concluding an electricity supply contract. Around 70 percent of customers are private customers, while 30 percent are business customers.
The eOutlet offers a wide range of products online that can also be purchased at a normal postal retail outlet, including stamps, parcel stamps, Plusbrief items or Packsets. The Swiss motorway access sticker, which is a new addition to the product range, and the stationery products have also attracted major customer interest. As well as this, there are of course products and services tailored to meet the specific needs of the Internet user: ePaket, links to the products and services listed on the Postbank homepage as well as free online services, such as a retail outlet and postcode search facility, the postage calculator and downloadable forms. The minimum order for items from the eOutlet is only EUR 20. For orders worth EUR 50 or more, the goods are delivered free of charge.
