Today in Berlin, Deutsche Post was awarded the Total E-Quality certificate for the second time in consideration of its personnel policy oriented towards equal opportunity for women and men. Companies that promote women's commitment, capabilities and skills are awarded the distinction, which is given by the association Total E-Quality Deutschland e.V.
Deutsche Post, with a 48 percent representation, is the largest employer of women in Germany. "Our corporate culture is distinguished by the promotion of compatibility between profession and family, a cooperative atmosphere in the workplace and equal opportunities, including at the executive level", explained Walter Scheurle, Human Resources Board Member for Deutsche Post World Net upon accepting the honour. Women currently represent some 5 percent of top management, with a more than 20 percent share among executives. Both percentages firmly place Deutsche Post over the average of German companies. In order to promote the allocation of women to executive positions on an even more sustainable basis, last year Deutsche Post instituted a mentoring programme: experienced executives accompany and advise female junior staff in training with development potential for two years in strategic career planning.
Three years ago, Deutsche Post was presented with the Total E-Quality label for the first time. It presupposes an evaluation procedure that builds on quality assurance in personnel development and management.
