First lightning deliveries at the witching hour
Weltbild and Deutsche Post deliver new Harry Potter book at midnight on requestBonn, 10/18/2003, 11:30 AM CEST
It is the final countdown. Hundreds of thousands of Harry Potter fans cannot wait until 8 November, the publication date of volume five of the famous stories about Harry Potter, the pupil at Hogwarts School of Magic. This time, Weltbild and Deutsche Post are cutting the waiting time, because for the fans, minutes count. At least 1,000 Deutsche Post night delivery staff will be setting out at the witching hour to hand over the long-awaited book to fans at midnight. Thus, avid readers of the Harry Potter books will be able to start reading the German translation of the magical story of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" straight away.
If you order your copy of the Harry Potter book from Weltbild by Wednesday, 5 November, you can select the "Witching hour delivery" option. The night postman will then deliver the books to your door between midnight and 2 o'clock in the morning in the night of 7 to 8 November.
"Harry Potter is the book event of the year, so we have to provide a spectacular service," explains Karl-Heinz Wellmann, Marketing Director at Weltbild. "That's why we have come up with this unprecedented offer for Harry Potter fans. With the help of Deutsche Post, our customers can be the first to read the book. And they can do so without even having to leave the house." While parents sleepily rub their eyes on 7 November 2003, the kids will no doubt be having Harry Potter parties to while away the time until the night postman rings the doorbell.
If you do not choose the "Witching hour delivery" option, the books will arrive by parcel post on 8 November. Half a million copies of the fourth volume of the magical tales were sold on their first day of publication, 14 October 2000. 250,000 of these were ordered through mail-order companies and delivered by post.
