Contract with IZA Director Klaus F. Zimmermann extendedBonn, 01/30/2003, 10:30 AM CET
Since 1998, Deutsche Post has been the sole sponsor of the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) in Bonn. The founding director of IZA, Prof. Dr Klaus F. Zimmermann has now extended his contract for a further five years. The move was announced by Dr Klaus Zumwinkel, Chairman of the Board of Management of Deutsche Post World Net and president of IZA, on 29 January during the "IZA Tower Talk" event.
IZA was established in 1998 as an independent research institute, conducting nationally and internationally oriented labour market research with around 40 staff. Working closely with the University of Bonn, the Institute plays an active role in academic policy advice. Research projects include evaluating new concepts in labour policy and conducting international comparative studies in collaboration with academics abroad. The Institute awards the annual "IZA Prize in Labor Economics", one of the most valuable prizes in the field of international academic research. IZA and Deutsche Post World Net plan to use the "IZA Tower Talk" discussions to promote the exchange of ideas between academia, politics and business.
Deutsche Post World Net is one of the largest employers in Germany, and as such is conscious of its sociopolitical responsibility, the majority of its sponsorship activities being associated with its involvement with IZA.
